About the Wonderlic exam

What is the Wonderlic test?

A short, timed cognitive ability test that many employers use when hiring. It measures general problem-solving ability with short verbal, math and logic questions. Today it is often part of Wonderlic Select (formerly WonScore), which can also include untimed personality and motivation questionnaires. The employer decides which parts you take.

How is the test structured?

The classic Wonderlic cognitive test has 50 multiple-choice questions and a 12-minute time limit, about 14 seconds a question. Verbal, math and logic questions are mixed together, and they get harder as the test goes on. It is usually taken online on your own device. Your employer's version may differ, so check the instructions you are sent.

What is a good Wonderlic score?

On the classic 50-question test, the average is about 20 correct. There is no universal passing score: employers compare your result with what predicts success in the job you applied for. Our practice exams use 25 of 50 as a benchmark, which is above average. Aim higher if the job is demanding.

How should I prepare?

Learn the question types and work on speed. Most questions are not hard on their own, and the time limit is the real challenge. Don't let one hard question eat up time you need for the easier ones.

Can I retake the test?

Retake rules are set by the employer, not by Wonderlic. Ask your recruiter or hiring contact if you are not sure.

Is this the official Wonderlic test?

No. These are original practice questions written in the style of the Wonderlic cognitive test to help you prepare. They are not real test questions. This site is not affiliated with Wonderlic.
